A physical affair is the typical affair we are familiar with or think of. This is mainly sexual in nature. It doesn’t have to go as far as sex but kissing, fondling and touching someone continuously constitutes a physical affair. They can start off as a short fling or a one night stand and then develop to something more like a regular sexual relationship.

Men are drawn to this type of affair more than women because they want the fun and thrill of new physical sexual encounters but they don’t want the commitment. Many will hide the fact that they are in a relationship away from the potential outside lover until later in the relationship. This is because in their minds it may spoil their chances of being intimate with the person. This is unlike a woman who usually can have sex with any person she desires. It does not matter if they are married or not, it is generally easier for them to have a physical affair.

A man on the other hand usually has slimmer pickings. If an opportunity pass by he will be likelier to grab it. Today, women are becoming more involved in affairs which are physically. They tend to be pickier however in whom they deal with because they are generally concerned more about their bodies than the men are. As a result many form a bond with the person prior to becoming intimate and this is what distinguishes the men from the females when dealing with infidelity of this nature.

What are the repercussions of this form of infidelity?

Physical affairs come with great consequences to you and your spouse. The main concern is STDs contracted by having sex with infected individuals or even kissing them (e.g. herpes). Can you imagine your spouse or lover telling you they have contracted a STD and possibly gave it to you? What will happen to the children if it is incurable? What will happen to your life? These are questions plaguing us today in society. Many married and committed individuals have brought back diseases to their spouses and lovers. Do not become a statistic you need to be able to spot the signs of an unfaithful partner as well as gather evidence about the situation. If caught in time it might just save your life.

Another consequence of a physical affair is pregnancy. Many women are claiming fathers today which are actually not the father of their children. They may not even know who the real father is. If you are a responsible man then you might be stuck with the bill. If you are uncertain then the best thing to do is to have a paternity test done. If they are yours then own up to the responsibility of raising the children.

What happens when you catch your spouse in a physical affair?

At the end of the day  infidelity destroys a relationship. A cheating spouse saying it was only physical is not enough to heal the wounds. The other person suffers from self esteem issues and questions the relationship even if it was a one night stand. It leaves the other person to wonder:

-how many times did it actually happen?
-Are they good enough sexually?
-What is it that they are lacking that their spouse could not be faithful?
-Are they loved?
-Will it happen again?

These questions sometimes put people into a state of depression after the physical affair occurred. When depressed these people feel they have little self worth. They cannot look at their partner the same or be with them as before. The hurting spouse usually becomes obsessed and wants to know where his cheating spouse or lover is at all times. They don’t give them breathing room. As a result the relationship suffers because of this and saving the relationship becomes difficult. If you decide to stay with the person and you can’t seem to get pass these points, your relationship needs counselling. It is easy to say you will stay but to actually get pass infidelity is very difficult to do.
